Turning down a job (potentially!)

So, after about 9 months of job hunting, I find myself with an offer and I think I may have a second one on the way. This gives me a dilemma:

Job 1: had final interview last Friday, told I'd got the job that evening, received my offer documentation on Tuesday, have until Monday to sign the offer which they're clear forms my contract (there's another doc with it too). It's a really good role, career-wise, good pay, BUT it involves 3 days a week in the office with 1.5 hour-ish travel (Tube) each way.

Job 2: no offer yet, had first round yesterday. The HR person today phoned me to book in a final round chat for Monday and said I'm the clear front runner. Not sure on salary but likely to be similar, less prestigious company, still a really good role, 35-45 min drive each way. Not sure on hybrid working arrangements but I suspect it will be 2 days in the office.

I think I'd be likely to want job 2, assuming they offer and the pay/package is comparable, mainly because of less travel. The complication is I need to accept job 1 before I'd have anything concrete from them....

I'm totally overthinking it. Any advice??

Accept the job you've been offered. If you have to retract later then do so professionally and respectfully. It happens, don't overthink it.

Don't mess them around. Be transparent. Tell them you really want the job but also have a second interview on Monday with another prospective employer and want to see how that goes and what they offer. Tell them you'll let them know by mid week.

Thanks @atticstage , I'm excellent at over thinking!

@Chillilounger the only thing I was thinking is that it could be a few days after Monday before I get an offer through from job 2 (if they offer at all), then I need to review it, I might have questions, and I wouldn't want to turn down job 1 until I've formally accepted elsewhere just to make sure I've definitely got a job to go to... so I could end up having to delay them for a week or more, which didn't feel right either. As I say.. I'm such an overthinker 🙈
