Teaching English as a foreign language

I have been toying with the idea of re-training, either as a therapist or a TEFL teacher. I've been put off therapy, however. I'm told it's very difficult to make a living as there are now so many trained therapists out there.

Has anyone else done a TEFL course? Can you teach it in the UK? I'm in my 40s now and don't want to live abroad. Also, do people still teach in classrooms or is it more common to teach it online (skype)?

Hi @Cooper77 I'd like to follow this please. I'm leaving my job later this year and will be doing the CELTA course but, like you, I don't want to teach abroad so I'll be interested in people's answers.
