Interview outcome - what could this mean?!

Hello! Looking for some advice!

Had an interview for a role (HR, public sector) which I felt went well, good vibes from the panel and I felt my examples were strong. As it's a Friday interviewers said they'd try and give an outcome today or Monday. Had a call and they've said they're working though something internally and will now let me know on Tuesday but wanted to let me know.

Any ideas what this could mean?!

I'm thinking if I was terrible I'd have been binned off already but I'm concerned maybe there is an internal candidate or they're keeping me 'sweet' if they've offered another candidate who isn't sure about accepting the job offer.

Thanks!

Well, it's not a 'no' but there could be any number of reason that the decision has been delayed.

It's frustrating, I know, but all you can do is wait. Hope that it works out for you.

nothing you can do at the moment - might be they're thinking about merging the role, thinking of someone internally, redoing the hiring process completely, have offered it and are waiting on the reply but you are on the shortlist, etc. Loads of scenarios and you just have to cross your fingers and wait - good luck!

We often get this in public sector. Sometimes we need sign off from someone who is not around, Sometimes there's a process point we need to go through and it took longer than expected, Sometimes a candidate asks to change interview dates

Don't panic at all. It's not anything sinister I'm sure
