What do I need to ask my Doctor? (re a Fit Note) ...

Hello MN,
Recently made redundant, sadly ...
My work coach at UC has asked for me to get a Fit Note from my Doctor.
I have never asked for one before so what do I need to ask?
I have been diagnosed with OA so I have mobility issues.
I do not know what stage but it is serious and only getting worse.
Seeing my new Doctor later today.
The Work Coach wants to help me find work with the issues I have but needs a Fit Note.
Any advice MN?
I am anxious and panicking as no one to talk to about any of this ...
Thank you,
I Am A Fit Note

A fit note has 3 options

  1. fit for work
  2. not fit for work
  3. maybe fit for work with the following adjustments.
Sorry about your recent diagnosis, I think what you need is a maybe fit for work and then details of the reasonable adjustments you need. For example if you have mobility issues do you need a seated/desk job? do you need a later starting time as it takes you longer in a morning to get ready? Do you need to WFH? Do you need a disabled parking space?

Go in with a list of reasonable adjustments so your GP can add them to the fit note.

@Harassedevictee

THANK YOU. THANK YOU.

I have been stressing about this as I have never asked for one and I am in total denial about my mobility issues / disability ...

So, so helpful, really appreciate it.

You are a star.

@IAmAFitNote so glad to help. Try to frame it as these are the barriers I face and this is what helps remove or reduce them.
