I've worked in same company for five years. Started off as a small start up with 15 of us now gradually grown to about 70.
A couple of years ago I was poised for a more senior role and part of the wider senior leadership circle.
Then all changed. There was a restructure, some shiny new people joined and now I feel cast aside and am no longer part of wider leadership, someone else got the more senior role.
The whole atmosphere also feels more political with the loudest voices and best game players getting noticed and taking credit. As I'm not very political I just feel destined to fall down the ranks and be forgotten as we grow more.
I'm not a good 'game player' just a solid member of the team who up to a year ago was well regarded. How do I navigate this?
I know the obvious answer is to leave but it's not an ideal time for me to change jobs right now plus this job offers flexibility and pay level that many others in the sector don't, which I need for DC.
And I also think there' ll be politics anywhere you go. It's not something I'll get away from.
