I've recently started a job in retail as a supervisor. I get 20p/hr above minimum wage in a VERY expensive area of the UK. I enjoy aspects of it but it is hard work. I am on my feet for 8 hours a day.
I am expected to do manual labour, carrying heavy stock without aids or protective clothing which is ruining the smart clothing I am told I have to wear. My hands are blistered, bruised and bleeding but I've still not been given any gloves but I've been told they're a 'priority' and will be ordered in a couple of weeks.
Then what REALLY pissed me off was I have been told that the managers have had a meeting and they have implemented a new rule, that new rule has already been broken by staff and that was my fault. Apparently, it is my responsibility to make sure staff follow this rule but they're not the staff I supervise, I'm in a totally different department! It now turns out that they've not even been told the rule yet, I'm expected to tell them and it will NOT be well received.
I'm feeling totally taken advantage of. It is not my job to manage staff in a different department!
I am SO demoralised!
Just that really. Any advice?
