Can they change my job title

I currently work for a crappy low salary partly because it's party time and works for me as a single parent, but part of the reason I took the role (with the shit salary) is because I negotiated a v good job tithe which will make me more employable in future, at an appropriate level for my experience.

I'm nervous that a current restructure may result in them trying to manoeuvre me sideways and change my job title.

Can my employer do this?

Party time!! Make that part time!

Yes, they can. Either party can vary the terms of the contract and the other can either accept it or not.

What happens if they drastically change the seniority of my job title? E.g. from
Director of.... to something lower?

There's a lot more to it than just 'yes they can'.

No, it's not. If they change the terms significantly and you don't accept, then there may be a compensatory payment, but that isn't as much as you might think.

The ACAS link has some useful information, but you shouldn't believe that you have some sort of magic shield. There are processes to go through, but if your employer wishes to play hardball, there is little you can do.

And even if it was, almost nobody wins constructive dismissal cases.
