Irrelevant Universal Credit group sessions?

Anyone else on Universal Credit and requested to attend irrelevant/pointless group sessions?

I’m not a parent and was referred to a group session by my work coach for parents seeking childcare/financial assistance with childcare.

The summary of the session is below:

This session is aimed at parents looking to secure childcare placements. There will be a brief overview of childcare options, assistance available with paying, how to use the local Directory and the Brokerage Service.

AIBU to think this is ridiculous?

They cap your pay if you don’t attend as well.

Have spoken to others and left a note in my journal saying sorry but this isn’t relevant to me. I’m not a parent and not seeking childcare/assistance with childcare.

Should I have just sucked it up and attended?

Are you sure you were required to attend and it wasn't just a general invite sent to all local claimants? Can't see why you would be sanctioned for non-attendance, when it isn't related to job searching.

Yep, required to attend. Says compulsory session. I feel like I was mislead slightly by my work coach though. We had a phone meeting (due to the Jobcentre striking and in person meetings not happening?) and she said she remembers I said I used to work at a nursery and has put me forward for a relevant childcare opportunity that I MUST attend. I assumed it would be all about jobs in the childcare sector, but it’s nothing like that.

I have just attached a screenshot showing the work plan that they have uploaded for me
