Career change help!

Help me come up with some options for a possible career change!

Currently self employed running a creative business but work too many hours for too little pay and feel I could just have an easier life if I worked 9-5 and had someone else paying me.

Job requirements:

• ideally option to wfh sometimes
• 9-5 (no weekends) and some ability to be flexible
• Job with a bit of variety day to day
• Good prospects to move upwards to more senior roles later
• Ideally slightly creative or have some way I could link my creative background into it.

Anyone do a job like that?!

What skills do you have to offer potential employers?

@atticstage Well that’s the problem I’m not sure I have very many useful skills. 😩

I’m creative so there’s that. And I’m very organised and focused with good customer service. I’ve also been running my own business for years and employing staff so have managerial skills I suppose. Pretty experienced at admin and managing projects and keeping on top of budgets etc. Generally used to being the one who has to fix all the problems.

Well those sound like some decent skills to me! Office manager, facilities manager, project manager, maybe finance/accounts roles spring to mind? You might need to pick up some extra qualifications for some of those.

When you say creative, what does that mean to you? Your first 4 bullet points sound reasonably achievable, I'm less clear on the fifth one (but perhaps because I'm not very creative!).

Have you tried the skills assessments from the National Careers Service to see how they map to potential jobs?
