Do local council pay premium for working Saturdays

There's a customer service job at my local council but would need to work every Saturday. Would this be a flat rate of pay or does the local council pay premium for weekend shifts?

When I worked for a local council, Saturdays were part of the normal working week, so no extra paid.

At my council you would get an additional payment for working weekends. I think it was about an extra £25 but that was 5/6 years ago.

We don’t get time and a half or anything, but we get a Non Standard Working Hours payment for evening and/or weekend shifts. There is a scale, and for example I work EOW and get £1200 per annum.

My local council stopped extra pay for weekends years ago. Just time off in leiu now

It really depends. On the job and individual local authority.

What does it say in the job spec?

Newbieyeah · 10/05/2024 22:46

There's no mention of any extra pay for Saturdays but was hoping there might be.

Flat rate at my LA too. You used to get weekends/ unsociable hours payment but not anymore.
