Waiting for a new job

Help…I’ve just applied for a new job that’s due to start in September however I am on MAT leave until end of December is it possible for them to wait or will they turn me down over not wanting to wait?

Honestly as much as everyone may say they should wait, if they advised it for a start in September it probably means that’s when they need the position to be filled.
I think how big the business/type of business etc will play a big part in wether they can wait for you or not though!

Totally depends what the job is. If it's something that has to be done in Sept eg school/college/university then they will need someone who can start then as otherwise what will they do with the students for the first term?
If it's not and you're way ahead of other candidates in terms of skills and experience then they may be prepared to wait
