My 18 year old DD would love to au pair in Spain next year on a gap year.

She's found a lovely family but she's struggling with the visa demands (bloody Brexit Angry)

She'd need to get a student visa and for this she'd need to find a place in a school for 20 hours of lessons a week. That looks do-able but she keeps coming up against this requirement that the school is "Cervantes approved". From what we can see online very very few schools are!! And no school near her potential host family is!

Can anyone please help or advise?! Anyone's dc au paired in Spain post Brexit?

Is the attendance at the school actively policed? Can she enrol and not go?

I was an AP in France many years ago and had a fab time. I hope your DD does too x

Thank you!

She says she'd be happy to go to lessons for the potential friendships but it's trying to work out how strict the visa is on the school being Cervantes approved!

She needs specific paperwork from the language school to take to the consular to get the Visa, so yes it will only be approved if the language school is Cervantes approved.

She's better finding out where the approved schools are first and then finding a family nearby. There are 100s on au pair world.

Two of my former au pairs went to Sapin after their stint with me and both had the same issues with lack of clarity with working hours, especially with the children being up so late (Spaniards eat late).
I'd make sure she gets in writing exactly what hours they want.
