Grade change v biding my time

I work in middle management. Im young(ish) for my role and success.
i work extremely hard and take ownership of my own development. For the past 10 years i have placed myself in positions that haven’t always been comfortable and came with a-lot of stress to get to were im at.
i think im very well respected, consistently out performing End of year performance grade for the past 8 years . Moved company in those years . Continued success since moving with promotion in the new company already achieved .
End of last year my role expanded meaning i now do two peoples job. No wage or title change with this.
now i have settled into the role, im thinking it should have came with some recognition. Im performing very well, responsible for almost double the staff i was before and an additional business area. I was recognised for this in my bonus but not my salary at my 2023/2024 review.
It’s unlikely i will secure a wage rise at this time , so i was considering asking for a grade change. The rational for this is when i get to pay review next year , salary bracket and bonus % is typically higher.
but then considering any future promotion, i may not be rewarded for it if already sitting at a higher grade .
anyone any advice or been in this situation before?
