Wages

I dont know what I am being paid an hour.

I was 28p over the old minimum wage and would hope it would at least stay the same above the new minimum.
We have been told that the bosses have no idea what our wages are yet and we will probably only find out at the end of the month when our slips get posted out.

I have always been told what my hourly pay will change to usually a month in advance in other jobs but not this one.
I did enquire with a manager who was rather abrupt saying just work it out as you getting minimum if I needed to budget that much and not to ask again.

Is this the norm and I have just been lucky in previous jobs being told before the start of April?

Budget based on minimum wage, that’s what your manager told you

The business is probably trying to work out what they can afford. This wage rise could put small businesses out of business unfortunately

Definitely budget on minimum wage, you know you'll receive at least that. I imagine they won't pay you more as this NMW increase is expensive for businesses.
