Key things to look for in Job Contract?

I have received my job contract for a Trainee Accountant Role, this is my first ever ‘Proper’ job… could anyone give me so key points to look out for in the contract and be cautious about? Thank you xx

I was offered a role a couple of years ago which looked great and I agreed in principle to take it. However, when the contract arrived there was no sick pay and the pension contribution from the company was very low.

I’d also check if there are covenants imposed after you leave. Some companies in my industry place very restrictive practices on people (e.g. can’t work for a client or competitor for 6 months). Check what your notice period is and if the probationary period seems reasonable.
