I was hoping I can get advice from someone on this please . I have recently been diagnosed with disability and for the first time ever in life I had to get sign off from GP for around two weeks. I am being treated abroad and due to fly to pick up medication tomorrow. The sign off from GP covers me until the date when I receive medication which is 10th April.
I have also asked for OH assessment at work as I wanted to request some reasonable adjustments to make it more managable for me to carry out my duties with that disability. I had OH assessment last week. They said that I am not currently fit for work and need to start taking medication and have time to adjust to it. They do not anticipate my return to work in next two weeks and booked another review date on day one of third week. Work wants me to get another sign off note from GP to cover me until my next OH meeting even when OH said I am unfit to return. The meeting with OH takes place 12 days later after the end of my sign of from GP. This the advice they got from HR. Is this normal that they do not listen to their own OH’s advice? Is this a typical practice? I hope that medication works and I can be back to work this month but I am flying tomorrow to pick up that medication which means that getting a GP appt for today will be difficult. Currently, number 20 in the queue to GP…
