Job offer and hours

Hi all,

This post maybe redundant but I am a finalist in a job interview. When I originally spoke to the hr person they said that the top range they could go to (as they knew my current salary) was a little lower than my current.and there was flexibility in hours/ pay for the role as they really wanted to interview me.

I said I was happy to take a cut if there was flexibility in the job in terms of days worked.

3 interviews done and I'm expecting to find out any day now. The problem is if I do get a offer -
I know how to negotiate pay, but how can I negotiate/ word negotiating a 4 day week without them pro ratering it to lesser than what me and hr person spoke about prior to the calls?

I know this is an incredibly cheeky ask and happy to walk away if they can't do it but I literally have no idea how to word it in the moment ?

Any help would be gratefully received. Obviously this may be total moot point they may not want me or a stronger candidate will emerge.

See what they offer? If they offer top range. Say I can accept that but only if I work x hours per week and I suggest that is by working 4 days or 5 short days or whatever suits you

Just be careful with reduction in hours that some of the workload is reduced pro rata.
Otherwise you could find yourself ending doing the full time job, supposedly in part time hours/pay
