I have realised that for work purposes it would be advantageous for me to be on LinkedIn and I am looking at creating an account. I am a DV survivor and need to be careful regarding privacy (I don't have facebook or instagram). Is there a way for the privacy settings on LinkedIn to be set so that I am anonymous/not searchable, but if I connect with someone they can see my name/profile? Are there any non-obvious settings I need to look at?

In all honesty I wouldn't risk it

I'm on there but haven't updated it since before I got beaten up.

No, not really. You can lock your profile down but your name and headline will be visible generally on the internet. The rest of your profile photo and info can be hidden. You will find people will be reluctant to connect with you if you’ve got no visible profile photo though.

i was advised to delete mine when I had a stalker. It was not good for my career, but there was no other way.

I wouldn’t risk it in your shoes.

Thank you - seems like it could bring a world of trouble that won't be worth the risk. Drat.

Probably not much help but due to similar reasons, and needing it for work, I'm on there under my maiden name as he doesn't know that.

@crowgift , you can block individuals, like I did or you can anonymise your account. How to stay anonymous on LinkedIn | Mashable

That's interesting StasisMom. I suppose I could choose a pseudonym and then reveal who I am by private message.
Thanks Got - I will have a read of the Mashable article.
