First time senior manager

Hello

I did 5 years in a technical role. The next 10 years I had roles in middle management and consulting. I am very good in my area of technical expertise.

I have now been offered my first role in senior management / senior leadership team. I am much younger than everyone else on the team and I'm starting to worry a little.

Does anyone have any advice? Any good books or training I could look into?

Thanks

Yes, intially at least, be fully aware of those that want to trip you up, make you look like a fool and generally undermine you. This is possibly they did not get the job and or they have a good friend that did not get the job

As always, when someone says something to you, digest it, think, think again and then open mouth if what they are saying could result in problems

Be extra, extra careful what you put in your emails.

Hard to do, but try not to be too friendly with staff as some are users

No, never been a manger, let alone a supervisor but seen stuff in action at arms length and a couple of new managers falling for so-called helpful firends/staff who were three-faced trash

Good luck and don't forget, you was chosen as you was the best and we all are constantly learning so you wont know everything
