I’m in a temp role started in mid January, covering a role til they got a perm person in.
The person who left did a few days handover with me but that was it…I’ve just had to pick it up as my boss not engaged whatsoever.
Job has been more or less remote and a big reason as to why I took it.
It’s not been great as no support just left to sink or swim …but it’s wfh and I’ve stuck with it…my boss can be abrupt and had a go at me few weeks ago as he’s no patience and basically wants to retire asap. He didn’t read his emails said I’d made error but I hadn’t etc. and was rude basically.
On Thursday he told me they have hired a perm person starting next week …and I’ve to come in to the office and train them .
I feel miffed not sure I can train someone as I’ve only been there 2 months and still picking it up….he is better placed to show them but doesn’t want that hassle.
He had only told me at the last minute he’s hired the perm person as they would’ve known for at least a few weeks they would be joining as he says they are in a perm role but want a change so I’m guessing they would have had a months notice to give.
He wants me to stay for a few months and show them what I know but I think it’s also a fall back as this person may not like it or vice versa…he’s not committed to how long just vague as I guess he wants to stay how it plays out with the new person.
I’ve stuck it as it’s temp I didn’t want to consider the perm role.
Now they want me to go to the office and have the hassle of showing someone and having them sat with me doesn’t appeal …not sure I’m up for that …
I just feel put up on …maybe it is what it is …and temps are treated like crap …
