Current workplace crumbling not getting interviews for new positions

Anyone else been in the same boat?
I'm currently working in a retail store and increasingly there have been red flags about the way the business is run and it's honestly not looking good, there's an all managers meeting in a few days.
I and other team members have been looking for new jobs but I'm not getting interviews, although I have a ton of experience in retail/hospitality both assistant and supervisory roles.
I'm after a full time position (rare these days in retail) and am looking for something in customer service but maybe not in a shop.
Tried HR but they all need experience, can't afford to do an apprenticeship right now.
I think my age is against me tbh.(40's)
I'm thinking of going to an agency but worried that they are more focused on filling positions regardless of suitability!
Any other avenues I should go down? Tia

Have you looked at customer success roles? Office based, potentially a transferable skill set?

I've just looked into that, the ones I've seen are after experience, I do have transferable skills but don't think recruiters can see that, don't mind starting at a lower level at all as I can work my way up and have done previously.

Get a few job descriptions of the entry level roles and see if you can reasonably use some of the phrases and descriptions in an updated cv of your own, not lying onvs, but reframing some of your experience in the way they'd expect.
