Has anyone worked at a golf club house?

I've never worked in hospitality before. I currently work in an office but want to leave as I find it difficult sitting at a desk all day staring at a computer , and I wanted the traditional 9-5.
This job is at my local golf club. The clubhouse is open 9-5 so there are no evenings to work I don't think.
It will be waitressing/pot washing etc.
It's a 12 hour minimum contract with a guarantee of 2 days a week off tue and wed, with the option to pick up more hours when needed.
I am in my 40s , fat and unfit. Would I be mad to consider this? Will I be stuck in a hot kitchen washing dishes?

Why does this make you mad? It would potentially help you lose weight and get fit if that helps. You will likely be loading a dishwasher on repeat and delivering plates/picking them up on repeat for the shift. Thats what I did in a similar role anyway.

Perfect place to get fit if you combine each shift with a walk around the course. Can't see anything particularly bad about taking on that job.
Is it seasonal? Have you got a plan for the winter period?

yes, I did this exact role and really enjoyed it. You get to know the members, some are a little prickly but most are lovely.

The course was beautiful and it was so nice walking into work each morning.

Dishes were a small part really, mostly just loading cups into the dishwasher.

I did pick up extra hours sometimes doing prebooked suppers, very simple, just give 20 golfers fish and chips or similar at 6pm. So there was some element of evening work.

Tips terrible though, as members don’t really tip as it would be a bit weird. Tips were probably the same a week as you would get per day in a standard restaurant.
