I'm looking for a new job. And was contacted by a recruiter yesterday about a possible job near me.
He put me forward and they want to interview me tomorrow!!
It's been a couple of years since I last interviewed.
Will prep this evening. But what are good questions to ask them?

Think about what you actually want to know?

What do you care about?

  • training opportunities?
  • The culture and flexibility?
  • the next few years of the organisation?

The op tip is don't ask anything they've told you in the job advert. The number of times someone asks me about eg our benefits when they're all listed!

Why is this job opportunity available and what is the composition of the team?

What are the busiest periods of the year and are there restrictions booking vacation at certain times of year?

What is the best thing about working at the organisation or what does the interviewer like most about working there?

How is the organisation/team likely to change in the next year/few years?

How does the company measure staff performance.?

Pick up any items on the job description that are not wholly clear eg “it says ‘and support the wider team or the manager with tasks as required’ - what kind of things might that involve?”

Thanks it's in a sector I know nothing about so will look up some info about that.
It's a get to know you interview so hopefully nothing to difficult

I generally ask a version of each of the following as both can open up really interesting discussions and also opportunities for you to demonstrate knowledge and insight on anything in particular that is mentioned.

What are the key goals for the team for the rest of this year?
What do you like the most about working here?

How long does it usually take new hires to settle in?

I normally ask some project related stuff but that's job specific,
Also ask about next steps and timelines.
