Hi! I have an interview for a job in a totally different field to any that I’ve worked in previously, but I have a lot of transferrable skills. The role will require attention to detail, communication skills, empathy and public speaking. Part of the interview is a “5-minute presentation (no PowerPoint required) on a subject of your choice”… I have NO idea what to talk about!! I know they’ll be more interested in how I say it rather that what I say, IYSWIM, as it’s about the public speaking element of the job, but I still want it to be good, obviously! So…any ideas?? Thanks in advance! X

Could you talk them through something you’re proud of achieving in a previous role or voluntary experience? Then you can highlight planning, achievement, what you learnt…

Include some interactive elements to keep them engaged. Throw in a couple of amusing anecdotes. Give them something to take away with them, related to your topic eg a postcard, sweets, a pebble... End with an unforgettable punchline.
