First ever job after years and getting nervous

Hi all. I'm in my 40s and spent two decades successfully self employed. I set my heart on a different industry, worked hard to reshape my profile and acquire some new skills, and was then delighted to get offered a job in this new industry.
Now I'm starting to feel scared!
I start next week. Does anyone have any tips for me, just general advice on returning to an office after so long being a lone ranger, tips on getting up and running in the first few weeks?
I really like the people in my team and managers.
A few weeks ago I was dreaming of being in this position so don't understand why I'm getting so edgy.

Good for you ! After the first day you will feel a lot more relaxed.
Maybe take some biscuits into the office on the first day, and don’t use anyone’s mug !

It's normal to be nervous! It's your body preparing you to face a challenge successfully. Embrace it.

In terms of the office, just give yourself some time to learn their norms so you can follow them. Be patient.

Don't take in biscuits until you've settled and know the culture. I've never known a new starter to arrive with office biscuits or cakes on their first day. I'd find it a bit much.

I’m in exactly the same boat. I’ve been self employed for 10 years, and a SAHM for the 10 years prior to that. I feel like I’ve forgotten how to speak to people in a workplace.
My plan is to just be friendly, not too shy and not too loud (or I’ll make a fool of myself) and work as well as I can. pp’s suggestion if biscuits is good!
im more apprehensive about having to stay in one place all day and follow someone else structure.
im sure we will be fine. Good luck!

Well done! Feel
quite envious. Would love to know how you retrained etc.

I find that when we are in situations that we’ve not been in since we were in our 20s (ie new jobs, new dating life) we tend to revert to how we felt back then… you’ll get there and realise you’ve got loads of experience and am sure will feel way more confident than the “20 year old you”
is imagining

I would feel the same, in fact, although I think I’m quite confident, each of the jobs I’ve had, I absolutely hated the first few weeks just because it was all new and I had to constantly ask things. You’re lucky that you’ve met your team and Managers already as some jobs I’ve had this wasn’t an option. Try and keep yourself busy this weekend, so you don’t think about work too much.
