Teaching to Civil Service Pension Question

Hi,

I’m in Scotland, considering a move from teaching into the civil service. Would I be better off staying in teaching factoring my pension? I know the details are important but wondering if anyone has made the move.

Thanks!

You also need to factor in whether it’s the UK Civik Service or the Scottish Civik Service.

Broadly the benefits are likely to be similar if you are in the Career Average Pension Scheme.

Are you impacted by the McCloud judgement?

As far as I am aware there is no Scottish Civil Service and you would come under the standard Civil Service Pension Scheme which is Alpha. Alpha is a career average scheme and more details can be found here. https://www.civilservicepensionscheme.org.uk/
