What job role have you moved to?

Hi
I'm currently work as a TA in a local
SEN school. I'm off sick at present, due to health issues ( secondary BC).

I've a couple of months left on full pay
and my mind is now turning to different roles I could do, whilst dealing with this god awful disease.

I'm no where near retirement age, can't take my teachers pension until 60 and currently pay into a LGPS. I am looking also at PIP.

Has anyone switched jobs, when they've been diagnosed with a chronic condition/ disease? What job do you now do?

I haven't had my OH meeting yet, so will discuss my situation regarding my current role with them also.

Unfortunately I am symptomatic with this BC which isn't helping.

Thanks

I’m so sorry to hear that. Would you be able to do an office role in the school instead? They have a duty to try to redeploy you if you are not capable of doing your current role. Is there a role in the wider local authority you could move to?

@Tayegete thanks for replying.
Yes, I am more than happy to work in a different role within the school.

If I could JUST do my job, I think I would be okay. It's the fact that as TA' s, we are expected to cover for absent teachers, or teachers who are in meetings etc. This makes the role really stressful and it is that part I would struggle with the most. There are many positives where I work; it is local/ good sick pay policy etc, but it's hard work and when not feeling A1,I feel I may struggle.

I'm also on daily chemo tablets which are wiping me out at the end of each cycle.

I need to have a thorough discussion with OH I think.
