Calling all part time primary school teachers...

I'm currently on maternity leave (due back in a few months). I worked part time before mat leave (3 days) but looking to reduce my hours further (to 2 days) so I can be more present at home with both my children. I'm not sure this will be possible as I'm still waiting to hear back from my head so may need to stick to 3 days if they can't accommodate this.

When in work, I found that I tended to work long hours and found work/life balance stressful, even on the reduced timetable.

Please could you share your schedules of work/life on your days in and out of school so I can see how others manage. I'd be very appreciative of any insights! Thanks 😊

I arrive at school at 7am and leave between 4:30-6pm depending on what’s happening. I do this five days a week. I do tend to still do bits/work in an evening and at a weekend.
I am the HT of a primary.
I think it’s really hard to get a balance in teaching tbh. I push back but there are still lots of pointless things that have to be done. The powers above like their paperwork too much as it makes their monitoring easier - ‘It’s not written down - it didn’t happen’ Ofsted

Good luck.

@Strictly1 thanks for taking the time to reply! Interestingly, I'd always find myself staying until 6pm to keep up to date with marking (and even then still had some books to take home and extra work at certain times). I tried not to work at weekends and only needed to occasionally. I think I'll try to keep up the momentum of longer days but more days at home where I don't do any work!
