Leaving date

When handing in notice, can a last date of employment be a Sunday if you/the organisation don't work a Sunday? It would prevent a gap of employment on a CV. My org are pushing back on this and want a Friday but that would mean 2 days gap on CV and obviously slightly more pay, pension etc.

For the next 25 years

It's not as if you have to say it every day for 25 years.

This is such an overthink.

Ok it's an overthink. Done. Sorted.

But presumably at some point in the process of job application (let’s say 4 in the next 25 years, dunno) it says “list employment history, explaining any gaps” and you write “x, y - 2 day gap owing to weekend”

Otherwise, as per my post above, can you leave job 1 on Thu and start job 2 on Fri.

Job 1 isn’t going to give you pay and pension for an extra two days.

You are allowed to take time off between roles. "I took a holiday" should be the only explanation required for a gap of weeks.

Lol at thinking a weekend is a gap in employment 🤦‍♀️

It matters when you work with children as they need exact dates to ensure no gaps. Gaps have to be justified. I don't mind justifying the gap but I don't want to have to bother for the next 25 years for the sake of a weekend.

My husband works with children so I know about gaps in CVs. A two day gap is not a gap!!!

In the NHS your week runs Mon-Sun so even if you left on the Fri your contract technically finishes on the Sunday.

You are having your weekend off in between finishing work on Fri and returning/new job on Monday. It really isnt a gap!
