Has anyone returned to previous organisation?

I left a post early last year, mainly due to micro managing line manager, and processes that i didn’t feel were ethical.
i found another job, better paid and higher up the ladder. I do enjoy it but it has its negatives.
a post has been created at my old organisation, essentially allowing many of the things that I couldn’t achieve when I was there. The line manager has also left.
its a pay drop but it’s manageable.
im really tempted to apply. The organisation works with vulnerable people in an area which is my passion. I’m in that area now but it is more admin based.
has anyone gone back? How was it? Do you regret it?

It might depend on circumstances a lot. I had colleagues who left for personal or career progression reasons and came back to the same organisation to a different role, once a suitable role came up.

For you it sounds worthwhile to interview for the job and negotiate the pay, you can always decide later whether to actually accept, as your current place sounds good too and there may be opportunities there too.

I haven't but I have had colleagues who've done it at a few places I've worked.

For some, it was like they never left and they were happy. For others, reality didn't match their rose tinted memories (or the things they'd liked before no longer existed) so they left again.

You've only been gone a year and the things that made you leave have changed, so you might be someone for whom it works out.

Is the organisational culture accepting/welcoming of returners?

I did, I was welcomed back. It’s was a good option for me at the time, I quickly got two promotions.

@passiveconstellation its a small organisation but yes, people have returned, changed roles etc.
