Incestuous industry

I have a senior role in a fairly small industry, which is very incestuous. Most businesses owner managed, and CEO's quite close knit.

I've seen a few job roles come up that I'd like to apply for, but have this nagging feeling that it could get out. A friend who previously worked in recruitment suggested sending a CV with no identifiers (no name or company name) - does this really happen? My email is also my full name so not sure how I'd even go about it.
I'm in the UK - Recruiters, is this something you've seen here?

It’s very easy to get a new email and it’s fine not to mention the current company, just the job role and experience.
