Are you in a permanent role just now? If you are I'd strongly advise you to think very carefully about leaving. I've been a contractor for 15 years and the last year or so is the worst I've seen the contract market. Additionally, your type of role is one clients are now most likely to determine it as inside IR35 so you really need to do your homework on what's involved in contracting. What's your motivation for making the move?

In terms of agencies, I would have a look on jobserve.com for your type of role & that will give you an idea of some agencies to contact as a starting point.

@ILikeItWhatIsIt So my original post was a bit of a stab in the dark to try and get any kind of response. Thank you for replying though :)

The real situation is my DH is already a contractor inside IR35 and has been for 3 years now, and his contract is coming to an end. This is the first time for him and obviously the contract market is dreadful now! Naturally this ties in with us about to buy a house, so finding a new contract is a desperation, we wouldn't mind a bit of time off otherwise. I will get him to look at jobserve.com.

A few random questions, Do you ever take gaps between contracts? What is your longest continuous contract length with the same company?

I contracted in Tech for almost 10year, but in different kind of role. Most latterly Inside IR35. I’ve done up to 3 years for same company. I also hire contractors and have loads of friends who do contract work. Yes the market is bad right now :(

Recruiters I’ve used include Digital Gurus, Opus, Alexander Mann. But I mostly find my own work through my network or work with some specific named recruiters who know my field well who I kind of follow to whatever agency they are working for.

Can your husband ask any colleagues who are also contractors and his current client which recruiters they use ?

Also recommend he gets active on LinkedIn. It’s kind of soul destroying but needs to be done

@Daffidale Thanks for your reply! I have passed on the information. He fully agrees on LinkedIn being soul destroying, he hates it with a passion. But all his current leads are coming through it.

Fingers crossed more work starts appearing.
