Can I move to real estate financing?

I'm an economist in the energy sector and have done work on energy efficiency in households, retrofit demand, fuel poverty modelling and looked at EPC ratings in quite a bit of detail. Also looked at specific retrofit measures for houses.

Can I move into Real Estate Finance/PE? Perhaps looking at the ESG side of deals etc? Also EPC ratings have an implication on house prices and the value of capital.

Reason I'm asking for a potential move is simply due to the massive potential pay increase.

bump

Honestly the pay isn't amazing. It's just average. I wanna do more with myself.

What about commercial real estate? It's a big thing and most companies will have net zero targets and will need your kind of knowledge.
