Unemployment insurance

Just going through anxiety peak due to mortgage increase and job market uncertainty and thinking to get sickness and unemployment insurance.
Has anyone used them and are they difficult to claim in case of hardship?

I've no personal experience, but I did kick myself after I was made redundant because I'd actually looked into this cover when I accepted the job. The company I worked for had made people redundant before, so if you feel anxious, then I would say, if you can afford it, definitely take out cover.
