Female Train Drivers

Hello,

I'm looking to retrain...currently approaching 40, with a young family and am seriously considering applying for a trainee train driver role.

Just wondering if there are any female train drivers who could give me their experiences in terms of the recruitment process, training and whether the job works well with a young family.

Thank you!

I'm not a train driver, but have a friend who is.
Her shifts wouldn't work well with a young family - but then, what shifts do ?

I also know of 2 people that applied to train as train drivers about 3 years ago. They were 2 of over 6000 applicants.

I mean, the pay is fantastic, so the competition for jobs is huge.

I’m not a train driver but there are lots on our commuter route into London. The union may be able to put you in touch with some mothers working as drivers to discuss opportunities.
