Access to Work (claiming Transport to Work costs)

I'm wondering if anybody has experience of claiming back Transport to Work costs if you're employed by a big organisation? Does the organisation allow you to put through the claims yourself, or do they make you charge the transport costs to them and then they claim them back?

I have been granted some TTW support and I was expecting to just book the taxis in the usual way on the app and claim it back direct from the DWP site - but have I got the wrong end of the stick?

Any Access to Work has a threshold for large employers- they must pay a certain amount before the benefit kicks in. Where I work, we claim as everyone rise does, and they reclaim the balance. Don't know if that's the norm or not - is just my experience

I work for govt department I pay for taxis and they reimburse me. With access to work, you would still have to pay and claim back money monthly attaching the receipts to claim forms, possibly with managerial approval that you worked those days.

Thanks for the responses! @raabbgghhrbb123! when you say 'they reimburse' you, do you mean your employer reimburses you or do you mean you claim the money back from ATW yourself? (which is what I'm hoping my employer will allow me to do).

One of our employees has this at the moment - she pays for the taxis herself and submits her claim form/receipts to the DWP. Her line manager then gets an email and has to log in and approve the claim before she is reimbursed by the DWP, not by us.
