To cancel interview whilst waiting on offer?

As per the title.

I was verbally offered a job on Friday, around an hour after the interview had taken place. It's all being taken care of by a recruitment agency. Had really good feedback, was told the hiring manager wanted to offer me the job, bit of back and forth re salary but realistically I could take lower.

Spoke to the agency yesterday, was told just waiting on the director to sign off. Then this morning the agency forwarded me an email from the HM saying hoping to hear back from directors this afternoon.

I've got another interview set up for this afternoon for the same job in a different sector & much further away.

Haven't prepared yet as was told I'd be formally offered first thing Monday (yesterday).

Would it be unprofessional of me to cancel the interview this afternoon? I don't want to put all my eggs in one basket but equally don't want to waste anyone's time.

Definitely go! If anything it could be a good bargaining tool but always good to know what your employer's competitor could have offered you, not just salary wise but work, projects, environment, etc

Go to the interview, you've earnt it. You might love the next one even though it's further away and if you do get an offer from the first one, you can use the salary offered as a bargaining chip if the second place also likes you!

Definitely go to the interview, no reason not to at all.

As pp are saying - go!
if you get a 2nd offer, you will be in a stronger position to negotiate. It could also spur the first company on to speed things up a bit.
And imagine how you’ll feel if the 1st company decides not to offer (unlikely I know, but unexpected things do happen) and you cancelled this interview…

Thank you all!

Just wasn't sure if it'd be the 'done' thing as I'm hoping this other offer materialises but realise nothing is promised!

Thanks again
