I'm right to phone in sick?

I hurt my leg last week. Soft tissue damage. It got worse and worse, especially after a 10 hour childcare shift. I went to the walk in centre today and they advised RICE and to take time off work.
I get really worried, especially as management get really annoyed if you phone in sick. OTOH the doctor said if I don't rest now I'll have to take more time off work further down the line.
Deep down I know the responsible thing is to take a couple of days now and hope I can go back Wednesday/Thursday.
If they kick up a fuss I guess it doesn't matter that much as I'm planning to leave in June anyway (they don't know that).
I am right to phone in sick aren't I?

If your doctor has advised you to take time off to rest, then obviously you are right to follow that advice.

That's just poor management.

If my staff are too unwell to work, I would prefer that they rest and recover properly as that is much better in the long term for us as an employer and for the employee as an individual. It's very short sighted and counterproductive when people are pressured to return to work when they genuinely aren't well enough.

Time to start looking for another job?

I am leaving in the summer anyway otherwise I'd be looking for something else.
