If you are employed somewhere but un happy looking for your next step… do you think it is okay to put on your linked in that you are open to work?

Depends on if you want them to know you’re looking for a job.

I’ve also always understood open to work as being unemployed so there is that possibility that others will think the same.

Not if you want colleagues/ boss to know

There are two different ones, the banner that goes around your profile photo that everyone can see and a version which can only be viewed by recruiters. The latter one is fine.

The one for recruiters is the one you want.

I didn't even declare this after I was made redundant and was looking as I knew it would open me up to masses of recruiters and such like, trying to contact me.

As it was I had one recruiter take my CV from a job site, send it to a company stating I had applied for a job. Imagine my surprise when the company called to offer me an interview!

I flicked the switch on linked in recently. I’ve been approached about 2 really crunchy jobs. Waiting to hear about the second one. It’s not apparent to anyone at work that I’m looking. I’m fairly active on LinkedIn and post positive stuff tagging employer occasionally.
