Experiences with changing from WFH to full time office work

Hi All, I would be really interested to hear from anyone who has worked from home for a long period of time and now works in an office based role. Your positive or negative experiences would be appreciated :)

I have worked full time from home for 4 years and I have a home based contract in my current job however I do occasionally have to travel for the odd day to client sites / sometimes overnight.
I am considering an office based position, where there may be a possibility of working from home one day per week maximum but this is not guaranteed. The new job is also a 30 minute drive away.

I don’t currently have any children but am planning on hopefully starting a family in the next couple of years.

Am I foolish for considering throwing away home working if I do go on to have children with potential nursery drop offs, fitting around family life, etc.? I do recognise the benefits of office working it’s just daunting when I’ve not worked in an office for so long.

If you're planning on having children I'd recommend staying in the WFH role

Nursery drop off, plus commute is a total pain in the arse

Thanks for the reply @coxesorangepippin 😊

I’d never go back to a f/t office role - I work hybridly so not quite the same as you, but the flexibility, work life balance and reduced commuting is brilliant. Hell will freeze over before I give it up!
