Does anyone know how many references are requested if a person is already an NHS employee but at another trust?

I've been offered another job, subject to references. Has to provide two references but only one has been contacted (my direct line manager). I've been in the NHS 25 years+.

Just wondering if they'll just ask for the one.

We'd contact both. Are you sure the contact details are correct (you'd be amazed at the number of applicants who just take a best guess at referees emails)
