Personnel files

I requested to see my personnel file at work as we are always having new managers and I wanted to know what information was in my file.
I found a return to work which had been falsely done by a previous manager and a copy of a OH report which clearly states do not print off.
I feel annoyed that different managers have seen this report and they did not need to have access to it as it is not relevant anymore.

That doesn't sound good but what's the question?

Managers do not usually have access to full files.

Under GDPR/privacy policy you can request the following:

  • The return to work interview - point out any factual inaccuracies and ask for them to be corrected. It may be your manager asked how you were said fine and then filled in the form I.e. very low key discussion.
  • OH report - ask what the retention period is. If it is beyond this ask for it to be destroyed. If it is within the retention period ask for it to be placed in a sealed envelope with clear instructions who is able to read it.
