Hi, I’m just looking for anyone with anyone who has any experience similar or advice to offer. I’ve been in the police for a year (UK) and am due to have my first child in July this year. My supervision have been brilliant since I told them but I am still technically in training and am so worried about coping with the job and the last year of my training when I’ve not long had a baby. I don’t think I’m going to be entitled to the same shift pattern alterations when I return from leave because I’m in my probation. Anyone have any tips/advice?
thanks in advance!

Hi lovely, I was in the same boat and fell pregnant 18 months into the job. Everybody was great, I took a year out and came back to the same role. I also applied for flexi hours and it got agreed (I don’t work a Wednesday). I joined on the degree entry round so have to finish my degree & ideally have to attend Uni etc on a Wednesday when I’m there. All in all everybody has been really accommodating. Though I do know different forces might be different.

more than happy for you to drop me a message if you want any more info xx

Whatever happens, please speak to your Women's Fed Rep ASAP. They have seen it all before and can advise.
