Returning to work after a career break

If you re-entered the workforce after being a SAHM:

How easy/difficult did you find it?
Did you return to a similar role?
Did you change industry?
Did you do any training to update your skills/retrain in preparation?

I am just about to go back to work after 2 years out. I’ve been for an interview and I felt so overwhelmed, although I had a great career previously I honestly felt like I probably couldn’t do the job. Like I’d lost all my skills and confidence.

Over the two years I’ve done various things, volunteering, fundraising, first aid, online diploma in something that interested me.

How long have you been out for?

I was out of work 8 years as sahm. I went back to a job I had previously done over 20 years ago and have left this week for a new job in a related field but also completely different!
I think you will be fine with only couple of years out.
