I started a job well over a year ago.
Decades of experience maybe my interviewer had less .
So i start the job and the vibe was really off.
This continued vaguely for months and i was shocked to pass my probation and be told i was disliked.
So i continue to use all my energy and prove myself through my loyalty.
However my boss will not include me in info i need, upcoming bits and i cant progress with some of my responsibilities.
This came to a head last month when they were away and an area manager popped in to help in some ways they were surplus to requirements in others we as a team didnt have access to important info.
My point is why am i being excluded and why have i not been let go if they dont have faith im me.
Is it because the interviewer is not now my boss.

Nobody here could possibly tell you why. But it sounds like you need to find another job.

Fine. Then you suck it up. Because we still can't explain to you why your manager/ employer / boss appears to dislike you (if they do).

DocOck · 27/01/2024 15:31

It's not that easy just to left staff go. I'd say if they're excluding you from certain things, they don't think you're capable. Or at least you're not demonstrating your capability to them.

daisychain01 · 27/01/2024 17:57

I'd get out if I were you.

They clearly don't know how to treat staff like sentient human beings.

How do they think telling you that you aren't liked and excluding you is going to motivate you to invest your career there. 🤔

120% agree. It won't get better.

DocOck there is alot of cliqueness and i havent had opportunity to show what i can do until last month.
Seems like very poor management to have favourites and only keep them in the loop.
Maybe im a miss hire as the advert i responded to wasnt the whole role they wanted.
Still why pass my probation then.🤔
Ive did read lots of bad reviews before i started about toxic managers and found out the hard way i guess.

It is toxic management. I have been there and it is usually management who are out of their depth making sure they a scapegoat ready. The favourites were put on pedestals and often took credit for work which was someone else’s.

no matter how hard you try it will never be good enough. It is not your abilities here, it is protecting the favourites. I would suggest start looking elsewhere as this will be a lost cause.

True every opportunity to throw me under the bus with sheer pettiness.
Every job is a learning opportunity even this bizzare place.

was the word “dislike” the actual word they use? It’s an odd one in a work context - it’s not really about liking people, is it?

Did you ask for that to be drilled down into something more constructive you can work on to be more “likeable”?

yes it is odd if you were hired without meeting your direct manager

seems like lots of red flags here, I’d be job hunting again

PlipPlopChoo · 28/01/2024 12:43

They are not going to change. So you can either find another job or accept you will not always be kept in the loop and if that means you fuck something up due to lack of information then do not worry about it.

Or go above their heads to somebody more important if you need to know something.

Toworkornottowork.
I was sat down and told my probation date was approaching and that my colleagues didn't like me I knew this as they didn't converse.
It was the weirdest meeting I ever had.
I also realised my manager who was new didn't like me much either.
I agree as someone who previously left great places with good working relationships you do not have to be friends with your colleagues more friendly and helpful.

So our annual reviews are due and I've asked for a copy of my contract or signposting to it online.
My manager doesn't know my duties!!
Says it all really.
