Functional skills acceptable

If you are an employer do you routinely accept functional skills as an equivalent for GCSEs?
I think I’ll struggle with doing GCSEs, but I know I’ll need maths and English as standard for most jobs.

I'm in local government and yes, we do.

I did my English and maths GCSEs when I was 40, through my local adult education centre. So, so different doing it as an adult where everyone in the class wants to learn and the tutor wants to teach. I did very poorly at school cos it was shit.
