Lack of induction

I started a new role about three months ago and it’s going well, I love the role itself and the working pattern/location are really good.

One thing I’ve found really odd though is that there was almost no handover and my line manager has shown almost no interest in me (in fact I’m not entirely sure if the person who hired me is still my line manager or if she’s given the responsibility to someone else - it’s a bit odd/vague).

I haven’t had a 1:1 meeting with her since I started. Even on my first day she didn’t do much except show me my desk and where the toilets are 🤣

Is this the norm these days or is this a bit odd?? I’m not planning to quit as the role is working out fine, I’m just curious as it’s so unlike other jobs I’ve done in the past.

For context I’m not new to this type of work but I am new to the organisation and sector.

Not knowing who your line manager is, is not at all normal and equally not having had 1:1s with whomever this person may be.

I have not had a handover for many years though, I think once you get to a certain level you find your own way about it. But with a line manager checking in and ensuring you know who you should be introducing yourself to and setting objectives etc.

Not normal!
I'm due to start a new job in a couple of weeks and had a Teams meeting with my new line manager today, was told when my induction would be and got a really nice introduction to how things will be.
My first week will be mostly induction style apparently. I would be more anxious without this, it's a nice way to start.
