Hi everybody, I know there have been various threads about career change but some have been quite old. I am early 30's and working in healthcare. I have worked for Local authorities, NHS, schools, charities and currently I am self employed. But I am really fed up of my career. I am healthcare professional and it's now impacting on my mental health and physical health.

I need to work to pay the bills etc, but I have no idea how to change my career. I thought about going to university to do something different, or online courses or setting up a business. It's been over a year since I have felt like I need to do something different. I am not enjoying what I do and I am very close to a burn out.

I guess what I am asking is, those who have changed careers, how much did it impact on your finances (did you have to take a major pay cut), how did you go about finding a different career? I did a lot of research in soft play centres and nurseries. However due to the current climate I don't this will be feasible, I have seen a few nurseries closing down which scares me.

If anyone has any useful advice I would appreciate it.

Have a look through the threads on the Mature Study and Retraining board. Countless experiences (good and bad) there which in their entirety may give you an idea of the most viable options:
