What kind of job could a former developer (Classic ASP) do?

My husband has worked in software development for many years using predominantly Classic ASP and JavaScript. ASP is no longer being used in his company (and hardly anwhere else either) and he has more recently been moved to more of an analyst role. He is able to do this because of his extensive experience in the company with which he works, but is probably unlikely to be able to move to a similar role in a different company.

What kind of employment options are out there for someone with this kind of experience?

Can he learn new languages?

In theory he could, but he thinks it would take a long time to learn a new language to the level where he could get a job using it, especially given that he is already working full time, and also that he would then be looking at an entry level position.

Would he really have to start again from scratch? He has used C# and Java a little bit but he thinks nowhere near enough to get a job with either of those languages.

He should be able to pick up another programming language quickly. Keep learning new programming languages is a trait of software engineering profession.

Hi saw this post, I also am a classic asp coder but I ended up making my own websites and businesses etc using it as it was just me, and yes it is very old school now so hard to find people that are still proficient in it.

However I am looking for someone that can code in asp classic for new website/database project, on a part time basis if he is looking for some side work, just because I want to be able to see how its made and fix things myself if needs be.

Would be flexible work so can do anytime from any location but just need regular check ins and to see progress and track work done on hourly basis, as will be long term project 6-12 months etc so let me know if would be interested.
