Pregnant and starting new job

Hi all. I started a new job yesterday however I am almost 16 weeks pregnant. Legally I do not need to tell my employer until I am 25 weeks. Should I wait to tell my employer as I do not want to tell the immediately and be disliked by the office?

I was just over 12 weeks pregnant when I started my current job.

Thankfully being able to wfh a lot meant it was easier to be discreet, but I was keen to let my boss know before anyone twigged.

In the end I told her just before my 20 weeks scan as I’d need the time off anyway and it felt like a relevant moment.

I asked her not to share with the team and that I’d tell them myself in a few weeks once I was a bit more settled.

She was surprised, but pleased for me. I’d been so worried about the conversation, though, and replayed it so many times in my head that I’d almost forgotten she was hearing it all for the first time 😂

Good luck with however you choose to tell them. Most reasonable people will be delighted for you. If they’re not, that’s about them.
